Maritime Ford Vehicles in Manitowoc to Receive Latest Version of MyFord Touch

MANITOWOC, Wis., March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- After several changes and a couple of years, MyFord Touch updates are finally being given to Ford and Lincoln customers. This week the automaker mailed out the USB flash drives containing the software updates needed to override the original MyFord and MyLincoln Touch programs, which caused a great deal of headache and frustration. The original program received disapproving feedback from its users; however, the newest version of the infotainment system is promised to make up for it. Although Ford dealerships are willing to help customers install the new MyFord Touch updates, the technology is comprehensive enough for customers to feel comfortable installing it on their own. According to Ford, the uploading process takes about an hour, disabling the touchscreen for the final 30 minutes of installation.

Vehicles such as the 2013 Ford Escape, Ford Taurus, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT are reportedly receiving MyFord and MyLincoln Touch 2.0 in the 2013 model year. The second-generation MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch should offer a more rapid touchscreen response, clearer fonts, a larger clock face, and more readily available access to frequently used controls. Enhanced navigation screen graphics and landmarks also add to the system's update.

MyFord Touch 2.0 offers a great deal of new features that will make the system well worth the wait. The program is now tablet compatible, which includes the Apple iPad, and allows drivers to play MP3s similar to smartphones. Sirius XM Radio voice command, Audible.com audio books and Navteq navigation are all featured in the new MyFord Touch infotainment system.
