NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Marquis Who's Who, which
has been publishing Who's Who in America since 1899, is pleased to announce
several new initiatives:
-- Who's Who in Asia - Due for publication in December of 2006, Who's Who
in Asia will feature leading figures from a wide spectrum of
endeavors. The book is expected to include over 25,000 profiles, from
Kings and Prime Ministers to the stars of Bollywood, from Olympic
champion athletes to groundbreaking scientists - you will find their
detailed biographies on the pages of Who's Who in Asia.
-- Who's Who in American Art, now available online - Who's Who in
American Art has been published by Marquis Who's Who for 26 editions.
For the first time ever, the Who's Who in American Art database,
featuring the biographies of over 14,000 artists, critics, curators,
administrators, librarians, historians, collectors, conservators,
educators, and dealers - everyone Who's anyone in the visual arts in
the United States - is available through an online subscription.
An invaluable tool for galleries, museums, researchers, art students
and artists, this database is fully searchable and easy to use.
-- Who's Who in America was a category on Jeopardy! - The Who's Who in
America category was featured on the June 16 broadcast of Jeopardy!.
Drawing on Who's Who in America's long and fabled history (the first
edition was published in 1899), Jeopardy! featured a series of answers
and questions taken from the 107-year history of the book. Plans are
underway already for the next season of Jeopardy!, where the Who's Who
theme will be expanded to include Who's Who answers/questions in a
variety of fields.
While there are many imitators on the market, Who's Who in America
remains the industry's standard bearer. When it came time to bury the
Millennium time capsule at the White House in 2000, Who's Who in America
was included as a snapshot of the most important and influential people in
America at the dawn of the new millennium.
In a recent article in The New York Times, Who's Who in America was
called "that venerable guide to American achievement ... it recognizes
109,000 people and, by their inclusion recommends them to posterity and to
America's collective memory."
Who's Who in America is just one of numerous biographical reference
works published by Marquis Who's Who. Other works in the Who's Who series
