Matchbox Twenty Chooses SRS Circle Surround(R) 5.1 Technology for First Live Concert DVD

Circle Surround Continues to Be Embraced by the World's Leading Artists

for Surround Sound Music and Video Production

May 24, 2004, 01:00 ET from SRS Labs, Inc.

SANTA ANA, Calif., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRS Labs, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SRSL), a renowned provider of audio, voice and surround sound
technologies, announces today that rock sensation Matchbox Twenty's concert
DVD, SHOW -- A Night In The Life Of Matchbox Twenty, showcases for the very
first time on DVD, SRS Labs' Circle Surround(R) 5.1 technology. With Circle
Surround, audio professionals can produce 5.1 channels of music and video
content for distribution or storage over a standard two-channel medium, such
as broadcast television, radio, regular compact discs or the stereo track of a
DVD. SHOW kicks off with a cinematic premiere in Hollywood tonight, which
will be presented in Circle Surround, followed by its release in stores
throughout the United States on May 25. Matchbox Twenty is a multi-platinum
band, wrapping up 2003 in chart topping form as they were named #1 Adult Top
40 Artist and #1 Modern Adult Contemporary Artist of the year, according to
 Billboard's Airplay Monitor.
With 20 songs, spanning three enormously successful albums, this double
DVD was shot in state-of-the-art high definition video with 19 cameras,
capturing all the nuances of a stellar live performance. In addition to the
standard Dolby Digital track, SHOW will offer a Circle Surround 5.1 audio mix
on the second track that is usually a stereo or four-channel surround mix.
Now any listener with a surround sound system will enjoy the original 5.1 mix
that Matchbox Twenty engineer James "Jimbo" Barton created. This means that
any Circle Surround-encoded clip that is broadcast over television or radio,
compressed for distribution online, or stored digitally on standard media,
such as CDs, DVD-Rs, or personal music juke boxes, can be enjoyed in surround
sound if a listener has a multi-speaker system. One of the most powerful
features of the technology is that it is 100 percent compatible with all
playback environments, from one-speaker mono to two-speaker stereo or
 multi-speaker surround sound.
James "Jimbo" Barton is one of Hollywood's hottest producers and engineers
and in addition to Matchbox Twenty has worked with other top recording artists
including Rush, Queensryche, Enya, Godsmack, Marilyn Manson and Eric Clapton.
Barton says, "Circle Surround should be an accessory on every CD or stereo
track on a DVD. It allows me to create a 5.1 mix that anyone can enjoy. I
 love it!"
SHOW was produced by Coming Home Studios (CHS), a full service television
and DVD production and distribution company that uses cutting edge production
methods to provide the music fan with a front row seat at the concert, and is
the first project under a new strategic alliance with SRS Labs that was
announced on May 18. CHS has produced DVDs for a slew of multi-platinum
artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Godsmack, Rush, Usher, Marilyn Manson and
 many others.

About Circle Surround Encoding & Decoding
Circle Surround is a powerful and highly versatile encoding and decoding
technology capable of delivering up to 6.1 channels of audio over any
two-channel medium. Quickly becoming the surround sound standard for
television broadcasters, record labels and Emmy-award winning television
mixers, Circle Surround is the ideal encoding solution for 'real world'
applications because it is the most flexible surround solution. What this
means is that once content is Circle Surround encoded, the signal can be
carried over standard stereo cables or broadcast methods and listeners with a
surround sound home theater playback system will enjoy surround sound.
Listeners with a two speaker stereo system or who use the internal TV speakers
will get an enhanced and thrilling stereo experience.
Major broadcasters, including ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN HD, FOX,
FX, TNT and PBS, have delivered hundreds of events and television programs in
Circle Surround, including the 55th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards, selected X
Games, NFL and NBA broadcasts, "It's all Relative", "The Shield", "Frasier",
 and "The Help".
In addition to it being a flexible encoding format, Circle Surround
decoding is licensed by many of the world's leading manufacturers of home
theater, automotive entertainment and personal computer hardware and software
products, including Kenwood, Marantz, Theta Digital, Accuphase, M-Audio,
Jaton, and Smart Devices. It is the most powerful, flexible and feature-rich
 surround decoding format available today.
