MANILA, Philippines, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In his speech during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pilot Biosphere Gasification Facility in the City of San Fernando in Pampanga, Mayor Oscar Rodriguez declared that the Biosphere Gasification Facility to be established in this City would eventually set the trend for a better world.

With about a hundred people in attendance, composed of officials both from the local and national government, Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation and True Green Energy Group, a groundbreaking ceremony for the Pilot Biosphere Gasification Project was held at the former 15-hectare landfill of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga last June 30.

Mayor Rodriguez emphasized in his speech that the City of San Fernando in particular cannot disregard the threat that waste generation poses to the environment as the people work for progress and development. He added that the City Government continues to seek environmentally friendly options that will help the City achieve its objective of raising the quality of life of its people by making San Fernando a clean and green city.

During the same ceremony, Ruth P. Briones, the Chief Executive Officer of Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation announced that the Proposed Facility covers the installation, operation, and management of the Biosphere Process and Technology. This Facility, she said will dispose 172-200 tons of Wastes of all kinds of the City and at the same time generate 6MW/hr of green energy that will go directly to the national grid.

Ms. Briones further said that the Proposed Biosphere Facility would benefit fiscal and non-fiscal incentives under the Renewable Energy Law of 2008 in the Philippines, in addition to the benefits it would generate as revenues.

Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation, a Philippine domestic corporation has been granted a license to the Biosphere Process and Technology in 2008 by the Biosphere Development Corporation/Global Environmental Energy Corporation (Global Environmental: Deutsche Borse: GLI.F) for the promotions, marketing, operation and management of the Biosphere Process. In that same year, the said company launched Zero Waste Philippines Project aiming for sustainable development that would replace the concept of waste as "waste as rubbish" into "waste as resource".
