Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Actor John Turturro and Executive Director of NFL Alumni Association, George Martin Honored at The Stephen Siller Children's Foundation Gala
NEW YORK, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Stephen Siller Children's Foundation (the Foundation) is pleased to announce that it will host the first annual Stephen Siller Children's Foundation Gala, held at Cipriani Wall Street on December 5, 2009. Former Mayor of New York City, Rudolph Giuliani will serve as Honoree Chair, and Actor, John Turturro and Executive Director of the NFL Alumni Association, Founder of a Journey for 9/11, and American Hero, George Martin will serve as Honorary Heroes.
Known for its Tunnel to Towers Run attended by 25,000 people annually, the Foundation was created in honor of Stephen Siller, FDNY, who lost his life in the rescue efforts at the World Trade Center on September 11th. His heroic actions on that fateful day were yet another example of his dedication to helping those in need.
"We are excited for the Gala, as it's a continuation of the goodness that Stephen's life and death set into motion," says Frank Siller, brother of Stephen. "Our family is particularly grateful to Mayor Giuliani, John Turturro and George Martin for their support and dedication to our mission."
Stephen's legacy functions as a simple reminder that giving is vital to our communities and our children. The black-tie event from 6PM - 11PM will include a cocktail hour, live entertainment, sit-down dinner, and live and silent auctions. Proceeds will be donated to the New York Foundling, FDNY, Pediatric Burn Centers, Wounded Warrior Project, and other related activities like the Freedom Alliance Scholarship, to support children who have lost one or both parents in the line of duty.
About Stephen Siller
On September 11, 2001 while off-duty, the New York Fire Fighter -- a father of five and himself an orphan by age 10 -- heard what was happening in lower Manhattan. Stephen's determination and unyielding dedication to others compelled him to give his life to save fellow New Yorkers and global citizens that day.
About The Stephen Siller Children's Foundation
At the early age of 10 Stephen lost both of his parents, but was blessed to have a network of siblings and loved ones growing up. The Stephen Siller Children's Foundation works closely with the New York Foundling -- a safe place for orphaned children, in addition to providing resources to children who have lost one or both parents in the line of duty, as well as the Wounded Warrior Project, FDNY, Burn Centers, KIDSAVE, and Freedom and Alliance Scholarship.
