McDonald's® Announces Return of the McRib® to the Greater Philadelphia Region Military to Receive Free McRib Sandwiches, Fans Get a Chance to Win $100 Arch Card
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today, the legendary McRib sandwich will be available at participating McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region until November 20. The McRib sandwich's unforgettable taste comes from the combination of boneless pork with fresh-slivered onions, dill pickle slices and McDonald's signature McRib sauce on a toasted, golden-brown home-style bun. Since its introduction nearly 30 years ago, the combination of the McRib sandwich's signature barbeque sauce and obscure availability has led customers to perform extraordinary feats for a taste of the elusive sandwich.
"We know McDonald's McRib fans are incredibly passionate about the McRib, and what better way to honor this devotion than by bringing it back to the Greater Philadelphia Region for those who love it most," said John Durante, President, Phil-Ad-Mac Owner/Operator Association. "We're proud to deliver our customers the unforgettable taste and experience of the McRib."
The following events are taking place in the Greater Philadelphia Region to celebrate the return of the McRib.
In celebration of the return of the McRib, and in an effort to thank our troops for their service, McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region will present Mission McRib. On October 24 and November 11 (Veterans Day), members of the military can enjoy one free McRib sandwich. Members of the military must show their military I.D. at the counter to receive their free McRib sandwich on the designated dates listed above, limit one per customer per visit while supplies last.
To kick-off Mission McRib, the McDonald's at 102 E. Main Street in Wrightstown, NJ, will host a Mission McRib celebration on October 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Members of the military from nearby Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst base and their families are invited to attend the celebration, sample the McRib sandwich, and meet Ronald McDonald. A five hundred dollar donation will be given during a check presentation at the event to the Friends of Family Support, a foundation that offers support for the families of those serving our country overseas.
Man vs. McRib
In support of the McRib's triumphant return, McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region are encouraging McRib fans to share their Man vs. McRib experience by tweeting photos of their "Messy Mugs" beginning October 24 through November 20 to @McDPhilly for a free McRib coupon. The best "Messy Mugs" will be featured on a Facebook album and one lucky fan will be chosen as the best "Messy Mug" to receive a $100 Arch Card.
