MedQuist Awarded RAC Consulting and Solution Agreement with Doylestown Hospital
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MedQuist Inc. (Nasdaq: MEDQ), a leading provider of technology-enabled clinical documentation services, announced today that it was awarded the contract for Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) consulting services and software by Doylestown Hospital. The agreement also positions the hospital, located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to take advantage of the RevTrack(TM) workflow management and processing solution from RevenueMed - enabling the facility to track and identify RAC efforts and tasks.
The mission of the Recovery Audit Contractor program is to reduce improper Medicare payments by reviewing the billing claims of hospitals and other healthcare organizations. MedQuist will supply Doylestown Hospital with a RAC coordinator and the tools to help them prepare for, navigate and manage the RAC audit process. MedQuist will also assist in assessing the hospital's risk related to the RAC program when needed.
The hospital's director, Payer Management, Bill DiGiorgio and Health Information Management director, Emily West, said that partnering with MedQuist was an easy decision to make. "We are a long-term, satisfied customer of MedQuist's coding and transcription services and speech recognition solutions. When we needed help to prepare for the RAC Contractors, MedQuist's value and expertise made the company the natural choice."
In addition to offering RAC coordinators and the tools to prepare for pending audits, MedQuist also provides credentialed coding audit consultants to assess internal coding processes, perform internal audits, and create an action plan designed to assist facilities to meet all federal coding and billing requirements and to comply with Medicare standards. MedQuist's consulting services offer hospitals interim coding support and provide coding and clinical documentation educational sessions.
"We are pleased to expand our partnership with Doylestown Hospital and help enhance their ability to monitor RAC activities," said Maryagnes Marek, MedQuist's vice president of Coding Operations. "This is a perfect example of MedQuist's full service approach and ability to deliver value across the full spectrum of clinical documentation and revenue cycle management." Doylestown looks forward to working with MedQuist's RAC coordinator - and enhancing their clinical documentation and revenue programs to meet their goals of streamlining coding and billing practices, improving efficiency, and enhancing their revenue cycle process.
