Metro Parent's Second Annual 'Living With Autism Workshop' Features Local Experts Who Are Intimately Involved in Improving the Lives of These Special Children

DETROIT, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Metro Parent Publishing Group and Henry Ford Health System are proud to announce the second annual "Living with Autism Workshop" on April 16, 2009 at the Ramada Plaza, Troy. The event is designed to educate and empower locals about autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. Parents, educators and the general public will have the unique opportunity to hear from several local experts on a wide range of topics relating to autism diagnosis and intervention options.

This workshop -- designed for parents, educators, counselors and health professionals -- allows participants to make connections with those working or coping with autism. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to attend two of 10 workshops offered by experts from Henry Ford Health System, Madonna University, Comerica Wealth & Institutional Management and the Kaufman Children's Center. Topics range from Intervention A-Z and Genetics and Autism, to ABA and TEEACH: Merging Methods in the Classroom. Those in attendance will also have the chance to visit vendor booths staffed by local autism experts and speak with other parents of children with autism spectrum disorder during the provided continental breakfast and lunch.

Featured keynote speaker is Eustacia Cutler, mother of the most successful autistic person in the world, Dr. Temple Grandin. Ms. Cutler will share her struggle to give her daughter every opportunity to succeed when Temple was diagnosed as autistic in 1950.

The second annual "Living With Autism Workshop," featuring Eustacia Cutler is presented by Metro Parent Publishing Group and Henry Ford Health System. Sponsors include Madonna University, Comerica Wealth & Institutional Management, Whole Foods Market and the Judson Center. Partial proceeds from this event benefit the Judson Center.

Metro Parent and Henry Ford Health System's second annual "Living With Autism Workshop" will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza, Troy.
