Microchip Biotechnologies Changes Name to IntegenX
PLEASANTON, Calif., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Microchip Biotechnologies, a maker of automated microscale biotech laboratory systems, today announced that it has changed its business name to IntegenX. The new name articulates the company's focus on integrating sample preparation and analysis technologies into complete products that address generic problems shared by life science and biotechnology research laboratories worldwide.
Under its new name, IntegenX will develop and introduce products that eliminate the most acute pain points affecting widely adopted laboratory workflows. Its first commercial product, the Apollo 100 System, integrates the company's patented MOVe™ valve technology with fragmented metering, mixing and dispensing of microliter sample and reagent volumes to automate DNA sequencing reaction processing. Upcoming IntegenX products will address next-generation sequencing library preparation and human DNA identification.
"Many scientists no longer have the time or the necessary experience to integrate reagent kits, columns, beads, mixers, detectors, incompatible protocols, and instruments that don't communicate with each other," said Stevan Jovanovich, PhD and chief executive officer at IntegenX. "We re-design, miniaturize, and integrate these fragmented workflow elements into automated systems that produce predictable, high-quality molecular biology output. With IntegenX systems, lab workers, researchers, forensic scientists and lab clinicians no longer need to become sample preparation technology specialists in order to analyze genetic material productively and efficiently," he added.
The new name is effective as of the date of this release.
