Miley Cyrus's VMA Performance Makes Football Great Joe Theismann Cringe
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- On the Monday, August 26 edition of Michael Kosta's "Crowd Goes Wild" show on Fox Sports during the segment "Questions Out of Left Field," former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann said he'd rather watch the video of his own career-ending injury than to watch Miley Cyrus's MTV Video Music Awards performance again.
"What's harder to watch?" Kosta asked. "Replays of your leg injury or Miley Cyrus at the VMA's last night?"
"That's a tough one," Theismann sighed. "I gotta go with Miley Cyrus on that one."
Theismann is not the only person speaking out against the former Disney star's raunchy rendition of her hit single, "We Can't Stop." The former Hannah Montana star emerged from a giant teddy bear wearing a risqué teddy bear one-piece and tongue out. The teen sensation proceeded to "twerk" up and down the stage with her tongue bared. The performance continued to get even more provocative once Robin Thicke took the stage.
Cyrus made her name as a Disney star on the show, "Hannah Montana," and instantly became a role model to young girls around the world. The show was even made into a feature-length film, which reached No. 1 at the box offices.
Just two years after the show ended in 2011, Cyrus has chopped off her hair, had a nude photo leaked of her and numerous other scandals attached to her name. The adorable little girl playing the double life of a child singer and regular student transformed into a troubled young woman right before the nation's eyes.
"It was poor judgment on Cyrus's part to perform that number," online reputation management specialist and CEO of JW Maxx Solutions, Walter Halicki said. "It was embarrassing to watch."
During the performance, many stars' reactions were shown, most of whom looked as if they were in shock. Rapper Drake didn't even look up from the ground.
Cyrus' objectification of her own body as well as those of the dancers up on stage was truly disturbing to see. Countless stars, women's rights advocates and others have come out against the overtly sexual performance. Her reputation as a "good girl" and Disney treasure has been forever tainted.
