Mining Safety System IP Portfolio Available for Auction by ICAP Patent Brokerage
MENLO PARK, Calif., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --ICAP Patent Brokerage announces for auction an IP package of mining access safety systems from Access Innovations Pty. Ltd. This lot will be included in the 18th ICAP Ocean Tomo IP Auction on March 20, 2013 at the Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel in Menlo Park, California.
"We are excited to offer these mining safety enhancements to our global base of buyers. Machinery that can be safely accessed and controlled is integral to all mining operations. Therefore, this is an important IP package for companies involved in the design and manufacture of a wide-range of industrial machinery," says Dean Becker, CEO of ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
This portfolio discloses an access platform that can be attached to mining equipment. Heavy machinery, such as graders or bull-dozers, includes either a staircase with a handrail or has platforms for operators to enter the control station that is elevated from the ground. The access platform described in this IP package includes a first deck that, when deployed, extends from the stairs to the operator station. This first deck, when in storage position, allows for an unobstructed view of the front machinery body or working tool from the operator station.
Further, the access platform system includes a second deck interposed between the stairs and the first deck. This second deck is mounted in such a way that it moves in cooperation with driving aspects of the machine such as tracks or wheels. Therefore, this access platform provides an unobstructed view from the operator station during operation of the machinery, reducing the safety risks to the operator. Further, the platform makes repairing and maintenance a very easy task even if the machine is on site.
The portfolio for sale also includes a mounted, pivoting ladder assembly system to improve upon the fixed ladders typically included in heavy machinery. Pivoting ladders allow easier and safe access to the machine's cabin for the operator as well as unobstructed views resulting in precise operation of the equipment. Further, a mounted pivoting ladder can be rotated in several directions in order to prevent damage during machine operation, which leads to reduced maintenance and replacement costs. Further, large mining companies demand a high standard of access safety from base manufacturers to meet site safety protocols, and this technology meets such protocols.
