Minister Raitt reappoints Cynthia Oliver to the Canada Industrial Relations Board
OTTAWA, March 13, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today announced the reappointment of Cynthia Oliver as a part-time member representing employees of the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a three-year term, effective March 7, 2013.
"I am pleased that Ms. Oliver has agreed to remain on the Canada Industrial Relations Board," said Minister Raitt. "Her labour relations experience will continue to benefit the CIRB."
Ms. Oliver has over 25 years of labour relations experience. Most recently, she occupied the position of President of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of British Columbia and was responsible for provincial bargaining in the post-secondary education sector and public advocacy on post-secondary education issues.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Health and Safety) of the Canada Labour Code. The Board's expertise and composition allow it to deal effectively with the complexities of labour relations issues, to determine the underlying causes of disputes, and to facilitate agreement among the parties.
