Minnesota Arby's Franchisee Receives Company's Highest Honor -- Again; Franchise Associates, Inc. Tops More Than 3,000 Competitors

    MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Franchise Associates,
 Inc. (FAI), Minnesota's exclusive Arby's franchisee, has won their sixth
 5-Star Award recognizing superior Arby's restaurants.  Triarc Restaurant Group
 (TRG), owner of the Arby's brand, gave Hudson Restaurant Manager Kathy
 Kieckhoefer and  FAI Vice President of Operations Doug Wong, the 5-Star Award
 for outstanding management of the Hudson Arby's Restaurant.  The 5-Star Award
 is the highest honor bestowed upon an Arby's management team.  The Hudson
 Arby's also won a 5-Star Award in 1996, the last time the 5-Star competition
 took place.  This is the first time in the history of the award that a
 restaurant has won consecutive 5-Star Awards.
     Each of Arby's 3,000-plus stores are evaluated on many criteria of
 restaurant management, including food quality and store cleanliness.  The 5-
 Star Award is confirmation that a restaurant is offering customers the highest
 level of Arby's service.  Candidates undergo special 5-Star audits,
 interviews, photo reviews, on-site visits and examinations of year-to-year
 sales.

 "Winning a second consecutive award shows what a high standard we are setting
 for Arby's restaurants nationwide."
     Kieckhoefer and Wong were honored with a 5-Star trophy at the Arby's
 Worldwide Convention in Orlando, Fla. last month.
     For the honor, Franchise Associates, owners of the award-winning unit will
 also earn a $10,000 credit on their next franchise fee.  The Twin Cities-based
 company operates 50 Arby's and Arby's-Sbarro restaurants in Minnesota and
 Western Wisconsin.
