Consolidating data marts in single enterprise system to support more users and data

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, announced that Mobiltel AD, Bulgaria's number one mobile operator, has chosen the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform for its enterprise data warehouse. The implementation, completed in early August 2009, will help Mobiltel better understand customers and to translate that understanding into better customer relationship management, product development and business growth.

"M-Tel used to have a Microsoft SQL Server-based data warehouse arranged on data marts. With the increased volume of data and number of users, this solution could no longer support our needs," said Alexander Stock, Director IT Division of Mobiltel. "We decided to go to a consolidated architecture and combine the data from different marts. To achieve this, we needed a database that is optimized for reading and is able to support concurrent use of resources. After a thorough investigation, we decided that Teradata is the best solution. A Teradata customer since 2007, this recent implementation includes an upgrade of the company's existing Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform to a more powerful system with better throughput and increased disk capacity. These improvements will support use of a new billing system and ability to maintain customer detail records for a full year as well as wider use of the enterprise data warehouse by Mobiltel business users.
