Mondial Assistance Associates Join Together in Support of Local Causes
"Month of Service" Benefits the Central Virginia Food Bank, International Hospital for Children, Freedom House, ElderHomes, and Salvation Army's Angel Tree
RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Richmond-based Mondial Assistance, the world's leading supplier of travel insurance and assistance services, announced today the results of its month of service program. In all, more than 100 associates participated in on-site and off-site volunteer opportunities, including collecting more than 600 pounds of food for Central Virginia Food Bank; assembling 80 care packages for International Hospital for Children; assembling 100 gift bags for Freedom House; and performing home repairs for ElderHomes.
"We are thankful for the support of Mondial Assistance and its employees, especially around this Holiday time," said Sue Farley, vice president of development for International Hospital for Children (IHC). "Our IHC children and their families who are many miles away from home are so grateful for the love and support shown to them and comment often how complete strangers to them can demonstrate such concern. This TLC really makes a difference in their experience while in Richmond."
"Our business is built around helping people, from assisting a customer who needs medical care while visiting Madrid to helping another customer find a great restaurant in Beijing," said Mark Cipolletti, vice president of communications at Mondial Assistance. "Our employees are experts at helping people, and they take special pride putting those skills to work here in our own community."
"Many associates are engaged directly in customer support, making it difficult to leave the office during the day. Fortunately, we were able to provide activities associates could complete here in the office in addition to traditional off-site volunteer opportunities," said Cipolletti.
"This was our first time partnering with Mondial Assistance," said Wayne Swatlowski, director of volunteer services for ElderHomes Corporation. "They worked on two houses, accomplishing more than we had hoped. All the volunteers from Mondial had positive attitudes, and we would love to have them back anytime."
During this holiday season, Mondial Assistance has also been a major sponsor of the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program. Mondial associates have "adopted" 100 area children, purchasing enough presents to fill several portable storage containers. Dozens of associates will also be donating their time at the Angel Tree distribution center in the coming weeks.
The month of service and Angel Tree projects cap off a year of charitable activities by Mondial Assistance associates. In 2009, the company has supported more than 20 local and national organizations.
