Money, Media, Marriage and Millennials...What is the Next Generation of Influencers Thinking?

Publisher offers free download of groundbreaking book from June 6th - June 20th!

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At more than 78 million strong, the Millennials -- those born between 1980 and 2000 -- is the largest, most influential generation in America's history. Millennials are shaping the first half of the 21st Century of American culture. Their attitudes and preferences influence businesses, the workplace, schools, churches, and more.

Starting at noon on Monday, June 6th through noon on Monday, June 20th, readers will be able to download a free copy of The Millennials: Connecting to America's Largest Generation (B&H Publishing Group), by best-selling research author Dr. Thom Rainer (Simple Church) and his son Jess (a Millennial born in 1985). Together they present one of the most comprehensive research projects on Millennials, and readers will be able to download a free copy of the book through Amazon.com, B&N, Kobo, iBookstore, and CBD (Christian Book Distributor).  In addition, B&H Publishing Group will be launching a free Millennials app in June 2011.

Research began for this project in June 2009, and is based on 1,200 interviews. Focusing their research on older Millennials born between 1980 and 1991, they discovered:

  • Millennials and Marriage -- They are marrying much later, if at all.  In 1970, about 44 percent of 18-25 year old Boomers were married. Today, only 15 percent of Millennials in that age group are married.
  • Millennials and the Workplace -- 84 percent of Millennials say that job success is important. However, they want to have fun with their co-workers on the job, and they see the need for balance between work and life.
  • Millennials and Money -- The Boomers indulged. Gen X went over their heads in debt. The Millennials might be the first generation to have a balanced view of money since the US became an economic power. But many of them are confused about their finances.
  • Millennials and Religion -- They are the least religious generation in American history. Only 13 percent of Millennials considered any type of spirituality to be important in their lives, but most don't think about religion at all.

About the Authors:

Dr. Thom Rainer is president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources known as one of the foremost experts on the American Church. He is also a respected pastor and researcher, and the author of more than twenty books including the best-seller, Simple Church.

Jess Rainer brings further credibility to the book by being part of the generation as a Millennial.  He is a banking professional, and understands how the Millennials are perceived in the workplace.
