Founded in 2009 by Sandy D'Andrea, Jewels for Hope touches the lives of many. Sandy started the company after spending nearly a decade taking care of her mother, who suffered from Parkinson's disease and dementia. Having Hospice in her home for the last year of her mother's life was something Sandy could never forget. "Hospice truly does remarkable work," states Sandy. So in return, Sandy began donating portions of the proceeds from Jewels for Hope sales to the inspiring caregivers at Hospice.
During the past year, Jewels for Hope has expanded to include Sandy's daughter Stevie, while also branching out in its charitable contributions. The company now donates to Hospice, the American Parkinson Disease Association, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To go along with its new donation policy, Jewels for Hope has designed a new line called "Creations for a Cause." Sandy and Stevie are proud to announce that 50% of the proceeds of each sale from this line will be donated to one of these organizations. Each item is coded to match the colors of one of the charities. Donating never looked so good!
As if donating to 4 major causes weren't enough, Sandy and Stevie are in the process of starting their own fund called "Hope for Caregivers." Under this program, 10% of the proceeds of every sale (not including the Creations for a Cause line) will go into a fund to assist caregivers who cannot afford to hire aides to help with their loved ones. "I want to be able to give a caregiver some money and say 'here, take a night off and go out to dinner with your family.' I wish someone had been there to do that for me when I was taking care of my mother," says Sandy.
Jewels for Hope has beautiful, handmade items that range in price from $5 for a pair of earrings to $600 for a stunning Swarovski pearl necklace. So there is sure to be something for everyone! Sandy and Stevie wholeheartedly love what they do, and that shines right through in their creations.
You can find Jewels for Hope pieces in local shops around Connecticut, as well as in their online store www.jewelsforhope.net.
