NALEO Looks to Senate Confirmation Process to Learn More About Commerce Secretary-Designate Locke's Plans for Census

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) issued the following statement today regarding President Obama's nomination of Gary Locke to serve as Secretary of Commerce:

"The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) urges the U.S. Senate to work expeditiously on the nomination of former Governor Gary Locke to serve as Secretary of Commerce. NALEO looks forward to learning about Governor Locke's vision and plans to fulfill the Department's responsibility to conduct an accurate and complete Census. Once a new Commerce Secretary is confirmed, the Administration and the U.S. Senate also must move quickly to appoint a new Census Bureau Director.
