The objective of the funding is to further the development and implementation of multidisciplinary child abuse investigation and prosecution programs. The multidisciplinary approach is a child-focused method in which representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy, work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases.

Grants have been designated to support program development and expansion, program improvement, urban initiatives, CAC Response for U.S., District of Columbia and U.S. Territories, development of Native American CACs, and the efforts of NCA recognized state Chapters.

Each grant will be competitively awarded on a peer review basis to those organizations that demonstrate a long-term plan for success and meet all requirements as stated in the Request for Proposal distributed on October 21st, 2009.
