NBC's The Office Star Rainn Wilson to Narrate Documentary About Different Kind of Company
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ironbound Films, creators of the Sundance and PBS sensation The Linguists, announced today that Emmy Award-nominated actor Rainn Wilson, who stars as Dwight Schrute on NBC's comedy series The Office, will narrate its feature documentary The New Recruits.
The New Recruits is about a battalion of jet-setting business students armed with a radical plan to end global poverty: charge poor people for goods and services. They spend one year working with startups in Pakistan, India, and Kenya, selling drip irrigation, LED lights, and toilet service. In exploring a movement touted as the new alternative to charity, The New Recruits is an unlikely cross between The Apprentice and Slumdog Millionaire: a hilarious, evocative, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride along a road paved with good intentions.
"I'm thrilled to be doing narration for the documentary The New Recruits," said Rainn Wilson. "It's a fascinating and often hysterical study of the challenges of capitalism in the developing world. Plus, I sound amaaaazing."
"We are elated to have Rainn lend his comic sensibility and universally recognizable voice to The New Recruits," said Jeremy Newberger, who along with Seth Kramer and Daniel A. Miller directed the film. "Rainn's admirable work with the Mona Foundation and Planting Peace and knowledge of issues facing the social sector make him a great fit for the movie. Viewers will relish engaging The New Recruits with Rainn as storyteller."
The New Recruits is funded by the PBS Foundation through a grant from the Skoll Foundation. To learn more about The New Recruits, please visit www.thenewrecruits.com.
