LAS VEGAS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- NAB -- 360 Systems announced that its new MAXX-HD line of high definition video servers is now shipping. More than two dozen MAXX-HD servers were delivered in March, the first month of production release, and are currently in service with television, cable, post-production and House of Worship customers. Beyond other HD servers on the market, MAXX-HD provides an unmatched price/performance package, and the lowest cost-per-channel. Its advanced features and high reliability are designed for the needs of broadcast and Pro A/V users.

"As a leading manufacturer of broadcast video servers, our installed base of 3,000+ video servers provided valuable input about the features and price point that mid- and small-market broadcasters and Pro A/V users wanted in an HD server," reports Jim Peacher, director of broadcast sales for 360 Systems. "The customer enthusiasm and order backlog we are experiencing suggests that the time we invested to listen and learn was well spent."

The MAXX-HD line includes two models with different numbers of channels and storage capacity. In addition to the high definition capability, the MAXX-HD servers support slow motion playback in forward and reverse.

MAXX-HD FEATURES

The MAXX-2400HD features two record channels, four HD-SDI output channels plus SD monitoring, eight audio channels per video channel, 12 terabytes of internal storage, and a rich package of production tools - trimming, slow-motion, playlisting, and remote workstation software. Applications include play-to-air, satellite ingest cache, graphics store, key-and-fill with graphics, remote production server, or DTV sub-channel server.

Other features and capabilities include:

  • JPEG-2000 video at bandwidths from 50 to 125 Mb/sec
  • File-based workflow via Gigabit Ethernet
  • Compatible with leading automation systems and GPI devices
  • Slow-motion playback, forward and reverse
  • Up to 250 hours of program storage
  • Double fault-tolerant RAID-6 protection of stored program material
  • Hot-swap drives with easy front access

The smaller scale MAXX-1200HD provides one record channel, three HD-SDI output channels, optional HDMI outputs, eight audio channels per output video channel, four terabytes of internal storage, and the same production tools as the MAXX-2400HD. The MAXX-1200HD is well-suited for play-to-air, satellite caching, key-and-fill graphics, and remote production. The ability to simultaneously record, trim, and play a live feed - even at slow-motion - makes the MAXX-1200HD an excellent choice for live sports and event production.

Other features and capabilities include:

  • JPEG-2000 video at bandwidths from 50 to 125 Mb/sec
  • Three auxiliary HDMI outputs (optional)
  • File-based workflow via Gigabit Ethernet
  • Compatible with leading automation systems and GPI devices
  • Slow-motion forward and reverse playback
  • Up to 70 hours of program storage
  • RAID-5 protected storage array
