New 'Donut' Commercial Addresses How Aflac Helps With Holes Left by Major Medical
COLUMBUS, Ga., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The newest commercial from Aflac
starring the famous Aflac Duck uses a humorous visual metaphor to show
consumers how Aflac complements major medical insurance. The new spot,
called "Donut," demonstrates that Aflac pays benefits toward expenses that
may not be covered by major medical, helping policyholders pay bills when
they're hurt or sick. Having Aflac in addition to major medical insurance
helps give consumers more complete health care coverage.
In "Donut," one police officer tells another that Aflac pays benefits
toward expenses not covered by major medical as he holds up a donut: "See
the hole, that's where Aflac comes in. Helps pay for groceries, rent and
all kinds of bills."
"The donut/hole metaphor tells the story very quickly and is in keeping
with the campaign's humorous tone," said Jeff Herbert, senior vice
president and chief marketing officer of Aflac. "By providing cash benefits
that can be used toward everyday living expenses like rent, groceries and
gas, Aflac helps consumers focus on recovery instead of on their finances
when they're sick or injured."
"Donut" is the 30th installment in the popular Aflac commercial series
and was created by the Kaplan Thaler Group. The ad is scheduled to debut
nationwide on September 7 during the NASCAR Busch Series Race and will
continue throughout the fall season on primetime shows, college football
broadcasts and various cable networks. It will also appear on aflac.com on
Friday, September 7.
