New LED Video Screens Help Lighthouse Clock Record Sales at Industry Event

Industry Embraces Company's New Products for Digital Signage,

Entertainment and Special Events

Aug 01, 2005, 01:00 ET from Lighthouse Technologies Limited

    HONG KONG, August 1 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Hong Kong-based Lighthouse
Technologies, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of state-of-the-art
light emitting diode (LED) modular video panels, today announced the
availability of three new state-of-the-art video screens that break new ground
in digital signage, entertainment and special events.
Today's announcement includes the launch of Lighthouse's PopVision, the
industry's first portable and self-sustaining LED video screen that promises
to give users a piece of "Times Square in a box." Also making their debut are
two new fanless 10mm pixel pitch indoor video screens, the P10 and R10, the
industry's lightest fully-integrated LEDs that feature their own built-in
 power supplies.
According to Mark Chan, Managing Director for Lighthouse, the new products
were initially unveiled at the InfoComm International Exposition 2005 which
staged in Las Vegas in June, saw Lighthouse report record sales. Says Chan,
"InfoComm has always been a profitable event, but this year we registered more
sales in the opening hours than the entirety of any past show."
Mr Chan attributed the company's success at InfoComm to the debut of its
new screens, coupled by an up turn in the market. He comments, "The unveiling
of these advanced products are fortunate to coincide with an upswing in the
LED video technology industry, which has provided us tremendous marketing
 momentum."
According to iSupply, a leading analyst firm covering the video display
industry, LED video technology has become the preference for indoor and
outdoor venues due to its affordability, brightness, durability and
scalability. The worldwide market of LED video displays, valued at $639
million in 2004, is expected to rise to $755 million in 2010. iSupply also
projects the retail-signage market, which occupies the largest share of LED
text, graphics and animation displays, is expected to grow from 41,248 sq.
meters in 2005 to 69,832 sq. meters in 2010.
"Sales are obviously the foremost validation of our success," continues
Chan. "For example, during InfoComm we held a cocktail reception which
attracted nearly 200 attendees from the media and analyst communities,
vendors, and new and existing customers. Our products generated a great deal
of excitement and we look forward to unveiling new developments that further
 our leadership in this industry."
Considered as the Best-in-Show at InfoComm, Lighthouse's high definition,
6mm, PopVision screen, available in Asia from today, is ideal for
entertainment, events, and marketing venues where mobility is a priority.
PopVision features Lighthouse's proprietary technology, enabling a high-
resolution screen with better quality images at an affordable price. Designed
for aesthetic integration, PopVision offers brightness level up to 3000 nits -
 - unmatched by LCD, plasma and projection systems -- making it an ideal choice
for any new or existing digital signage network. It can also be used in
outdoor applications and seen in direct sunlight as long as weatherproof
 housing considerations are met.
Lighthouse two new fanless 10mm pixel pitch indoor screens, the P10 and
R10, also debuted at InfoComm, are created for environments where noise levels
need to be kept to a minimum. Featuring Lighthouse's M-4 proven pixel
uniformity technology, the fanless designs of both models provide a quiet,
almost noise-less configuration. This makes them suitable for a variety of
applications, from the lobby of a corporate business, to acoustic concerts and
conferences, to studios and broadcast events -- anywhere that low background
 noise is essential.
Designed for permanent installations, Lighthouse's P10 is lightweight for
ease of installation. Each panel weighs only 9.6kg, making it possible for a
technician to install the screen single-handedly. The R10 rental product is
also lightweight and features a fast rig single kingpin design for quick set-
up and strip down of the screen. With cost effectiveness always in mind, the
R10 is compatible with all existing LVP1010D accessories.
The products join Lighthouse's family of indoor, outdoor and in-outdoor
video screens including its P12ER that providing a 12.5mm dot pitch and 5000
nits of brightness was launched earlier this year. Aggressively priced,
market response to the P12-ER has proved promising particularly for
advertising and stadium applications requiring screens with high resolution
for longer viewing distances. "Market research indicates that extremely high
resolution screens are often at times unattainable for many customers,"
comments Chan. "Subsequently, the P12-ER delivers image quality superior to
any product on the market today at an affordable price."
Lighthouse has seen its products used in a number of high visibility
screen installations including: Hong Kong International Airport, Chung King
Mansions and the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong; the thrillingly successful Live
8 show in Hyde Park, London and Berlin; the G8 conference in Scotland; and on
the set of Queen's "We Will Rock You" show in Las Vegas, London, Melbourne and
Cologne. The company's screens have also been used in several international
tours and concerts for artists like Sting, Celine Dion, Metallica and the Red
 Hot Chili Peppers.
Lighthouse Technologies Limited is a leading LED technology developer,
manufacturer and global supplier of state-of-the-art LED modular video panels,
which can be assembled into large scale video screens for indoor and outdoor
use. Specializing in the research and manufacture of LED video screens,
Lighthouse has its own intellectual properties with more than 10 active
patents worldwide and is committed to remain as the premier creator of
 intellectual property value.
The company's LED components, panels and complete video systems undergo

certified manufacturing plants. Its products have won several international
awards, among them, the Best New Product Award at the National Association of

2004 in Atlanta, the Technological Achievement Certificate of Merit in the
