New USO at Fort Carson to Serve Growing Military Community
Civic Leader Joe Aldaz Chosen as Director of New USO Center
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The USO is proud to
announce that Joe Aldaz, Jr. has been chosen as center director for the new
Rocky Mountain USO center at Fort Carson. Aldaz, a retired U.S. Air Force
Lieutenant Colonel and former president and CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce of Colorado Springs, Co., will plan, organize, and direct USO
operations, providing quality programs and services to service personnel
and their families in that community.

Expected to open spring 2008, the 5,280 square-foot center is expected
to serve the third largest concentration of soldiers in the U.S. The center
will be located in the Fort Carson Welcome Center, providing service
members and their families a place to relax and rejuvenate while completing
the various phases of in- and out-processing on the installation. The new
USO center will offer a free cyber cafe with e-mail and Internet access,
entertainment lounge with a large screen television, home theater system
and video gaming consoles, a library, a children's play area and outdoor
grilling and picnic area. This center is largely made possible by TriWest
Healthcare Alliance, The Home Depot(R) and Lockheed Martin, and the support
of the Department of Defense.
