New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council Presents Sustainability Summit on October 18 in New York City
How Green Is Your Business?: Innovative Sustainability Partnering for Minority Businesses
NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The New York & New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council (The Council) will explore urban ecology with its sustainability summit "How Green Is Your Business?: Innovative Sustainability Partnering for Minority Businesses" on October 18 at the Sentry Center, 810 Seventh Avenue from 7:30am – 5:00pm.
"How Green Is Your Business?" was created to identify U.S.-based innovative multicultural small businesses in the cleantech and greentech world and provide access to capital and partnering across all sectors.
"Most innovative multicultural companies with emerging technologies do not have a clear path in showcasing their product or services to key buyers and are often overshadowed by larger companies with established funding and business connections," said Kevin V.G. Wells, The Council's general counsel and director of Minority Business Enterprise Services, also an environmental attorney for 10 years. "This summit is designed as a platform to introduce multicultural companies to potential investors, media, licenses and partners and introduce sustainability practices into their operations."
Over 50 leading sustainability experts representing Johnson & Johnson, Colgate Palmolive, Citi, Turner Construction, Marsh & McLennan, Con Edison, Kaplan Thaler, U.S. Department of Commerce, United Water, Green Seal, Rainforest Alliance and others will discuss trends and issues. Also, Council-certified multicultural green businesses like Bard Holding, algae alternative energy (Indian-American), Diversant, IT staffing (African-American) and The Standard Group, paperboard packaging (Hispanic-American) will be spotlighted.
Topics encompass: LEED Accreditation, food and fabric distribution, green certifications, IT, access to capital contracts, transforming into a sustainable business, digital vs. print, alternate energy, consulting and professional services, video business cards and more. One-on-one sustainability match-maker sessions, a power breakfast and a luncheon will be featured.
"All business owners are invited," said Wells. "Growing businesses need to incorporate people, planet and profit within sustainability to remain viable." Registration is $55 for Council-certified businesses and $75 for non-certified businesses. For more information call 212.502.5663 or www.nynjcouncilgreen.com.
