New York City to Host Its First Nationwide Summit to Advance Health Information Technology, Improve Healthcare in NY
Bringing together many healthcare stakeholders for intellectual exchange that will encourage healthcare innovation
NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fulfilling its role as an innovation capital of the world, this December New York City will host the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) Digital Health Conference 2011, the first and only national summit to be held in the city dedicated to advancing the role of health information technology (HIT). The event will mark that first time that hundreds of stakeholders in the healthcare information technology sector will gather under one roof in New York, which has more providers, hospitals, and patients than any other state in the country.
The conference, running Dec. 1st and 2nd, will draw participants from the public sector, private industry, health plans, hospital administration, healthcare venders, healthcare providers, and many others to showcase the latest technologies, celebrate achievements, inspire collaboration, and generally support the advancement of healthcare innovation. NYeC invites potential speakers, exhibitors and sponsors to contact them to take part in this exciting opportunity.
"This conference aspires to do nothing short of bringing together the best and brightest minds on the front lines of HIT innovation," said David Whitlinger , Executive Director at NYeC. "We plan on creating a vast exchange of intellectual capital between people like hospital leadership, software and other private-sector company executives and experienced clinicians that will foster the next generation of thought in medicine. An event like this in New York City will have a huge impact on the region and create ripple effects that will reach the rest of the country."
The conference is being supported by numerous regional HIT advocacy groups, including the New York, New Jersey and New England chapters of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the Medical Society of the State of New York.
The conference will consist of educational sessions, large and diverse exhibit areas and an awards ceremony gala. The sessions will focus on four areas of HIT innovation - Chronic Disease Management, Advances in the Inpatient Setting, Delivery of Primary Care, and Health and Wellness – in a mix of discussion styles and demonstrations.
