New York Exhibition Celebrates HSBC Photography Foundation Award Winners Photographers Julia Fullerton-Batten and Matthew Pillsbury are 12th Annual Winners

    NEW YORK, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Contemporary photographers Julia
 Fullerton-Batten and Matthew Pillsbury have been awarded the 2007 HSBC
 Photography Foundation Award. This year's prize marks the 12th consecutive
 year that the award has been granted to two contemporary photographers. An
 exhibition of their work has its North American debut at the New York
 auction house Phillips de Pury & Company, from October 10 -19, 2007.
 Comprised of a selection of approximately 20 large and medium format
 photographs by each artist, the exhibition is open to the public free of
 charge, and is timed to coincide with the Phillips fall photography sale,
 scheduled for October 17.
     Based in Paris, the Fondation HSBC pour la Photographie is dedicated to
 supporting its annual award winners by publishing catalogues, organizing
 exhibitions and acquiring a selection of their works for its corporate
 collection. The prize is open to photographers of any age or nationality
 whose work focuses on the representation of reality and life today.
     The exhibition of this year's winners was presented at three European
 venues before traveling to New York: Photo Espana in Madrid and Rencontres
 Internationales de la Photographie in Arles this summer; and Galerie
 Baudoin Lebon, Paris, where it was on view until September 22. Following
 the New York show, the exhibition will travel to Galerie le Reverbere,
 Lyon, where it will be on view from December 7, 2007.
     Julia Fullerton-Batten was born in Germany in 1970 and is currently
 based in London. She received a Diploma in Photography from the Berkshire
 College of Art & Design. Her work has been included in a dozen exhibitions
 throughout Europe and North America, including a solo exhibition at the

     Matthew Pillsbury was born in France in 1973 and is currently based in
 New York. He received a BA from Yale University and an MFA from the School
 of Visual Arts. His work has been included in over 25 exhibitions
 throughout Europe and North America. His work is in the permanent
 collections of numerous museums including the Guggenheim Museum, the
 International Center for Photography, the Museum of Modern Art and the
