New York Real Estate Developer Isaac Toussie Revitalizes Local Jewish Center after Hurricane Sandy Isaac Toussie's continued support helps the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center and its Yeshiva affiliate recover from major structural damage caused by Hurricane Sandy
NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Isaac Toussie is endeavoring to restore the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center (MBJC) and its Yeshiva location across the street to pre-Hurricane Sandy conditions. The storm filled the basements of the buildings with over 350,000 gallons of water, which inflicted severe structural damage. As a New York native, Isaac Toussie understands that the MBJC is home to the collective community of Orthodox Jewish families in the region.
The storm water was pumped out in a painstaking process that spanned several days, leaving behind an oily residue coated on the walls and floors of the MBJC. Mold was a resulting concern, so the carpets and furniture were thrown away. The once colorful and lively Jewish Center was rendered mostly uninhabitable.
For over ninety years, the MBJC has served the community in providing a place to gather for Sabbath and daily religious services. Due to the damage sustained by Hurricane Sandy, the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center has recently been unable to meet the needs of its community.
Isaac Toussie and other community leaders have now combined their support to help renovate the MBJC and pave the way to becoming fully operational. In a recent collaborative effort, Isaac Toussie has provided much needed support to renovating the seven-story community center that was built as an attachment in the 1960's.
Over the years, the community center has served as the Yeshiva Senior Citizen Center, as well as providing after-school academic and recreational programs for public school children, among other functions. Through resupplying the MBJC with books and other essentials, Isaac Toussie is empowering the institution to resume serving the community.
