NewspaperDirect Expands Its Presence in France With New Publishing Agency, Becomes Member of France's Press Audit Bureau, OJD NewspaperDirect sees excellent opportunities for expansion in France; French-speaking subscribers worldwide are enthusiastic adopters of digital replica editions, representing an important source of additional revenue for French publishers.
LONDON, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Publishing & Media Expo -- NewspaperDirect (ND), the world leader in multichannel newspaper and magazine content distribution and monetization, is expanding its commercial presence in France through the appointment of a new publisher relations agency headed up by Matthieu Stefani, a local entrepreneur and founder of Stefani&Co, a digital innovation and conception agency.
Mr. Stefani was the founder of Citizenside.com, a news website recognized as a pioneer in citizen journalism in France, and backed by Agence France Presse. The team of four (4) will represent ND in France, assisting French publishers with the implemention of new multichannel distribution strategies enabled by ND's PressReader, PressDisplay.com and SmartEdition technologies and platforms.
ND's award-winning application, PressReader, and its online kiosk, PressDisplay.com, offer thousands of newspapers and magazines from more than 100 countries in 56 languages, making them the largest aggregated news kiosks in the world. ND has long-standing relationships with some of France's most prestigious publishers, including Le Figaro, Les Echos, La Tribune, L'Equipe, Le Revenu, Aujourd'hui en France, Le Parisien, andLe Monde, one of France's top-circulation dailies.
"We are very excited to work with NewspaperDirect in bringing French publications to a global audience," said Mr. Stefani. "NewspaperDirect's cross-platform solutions, PressDisplay.com and PressReader, not only complement what the French publishers are doing today to grow revenues and circulation, they also open new global distribution channels in the hotel, airline, marine, corporate, government and library markets – channels the publishers could not possibly reach on their own."
"Today, French-speaking readers represent the second-largest readership on ND's digital network, with subscribers accessing French-language newspapers and magazines from France, Canada, Belgium and Switzerland," said Nikolay Malyarov, VP of publishing and legal affairs at NewspaperDirect. "We see digital replica editions gaining popularity in France, representing an increasingly important component of the overall subscription mix for French publishers."
NewspaperDirect is now officially an Associate Member of the OJD
Coinciding with ND's expansion into France has been the company's acceptance as a "Membre associé contrôlé" with France's Office de Justification de la Diffusion (OJD), the body that audits circulation of French newspapers and magazines. ND will be making its first appearance at the 23ème Observatoire de la Presse hosted by OJD on March 21st, 2013.
After examination of ND's distribution and reporting methodologies, the leadership committee of the OJD determined that the company meets the criteria to be officially accepted as an associate member, effective January 2013. Membership in the OJD enables ND's French publishing partners to count sales of their publications through ND's digital publishing channels as part of their official audited circulation numbers, which has direct bearing on the rates they can charge advertisers.
