NNS Awards Network News Cooperative Contract to Generation Technologies Corp.

    NEW YORK, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- NNS has awarded the contract for the
 Network News Service, domestic news cooperative, to newsroom software pioneer
 Generation Technologies Corporation.  The NNS partnership consists of ABC
 NewsOne, CBS Newspath, and Fox News Edge.
     Fifteen regional NNS newsrooms will be responsible for collecting local
 "generic" news video and breaking news video.  Generation Technologies'
 Newsroom Information Model (NIM) software will link the NNS regional
 newsrooms, to the main NNS newsroom.
     The main NNS newsroom will be located at the CBS Broadcast Center in
 Manhattan.  Experienced news producers assigned to the project by each of the
 three networks will staff NNS.
     "The NNS alliance will provide local affiliates with the best pictures
 of news events each day", according to NNS General Manager Alan Suhonen.
 "NNS will also provide to affiliates quick access to breaking news via the
 local newsrooms.  The originating stations will be protected by local market
     Generation Technologies will use a combination of NIM "n-tier" newsroom
 technology, Microsoft's NT and Microsoft's SQL replication technologies and
 will provide the main Fox News Edge, CBS Newspath and ABC NewsOne affiliate
 newsrooms with full metadata replication.  Generation Technologies will be
 interfacing to NNS's high end Montage video servers.
     Generation Technologies, located in Overland Park, Kansas, created the
