DALLAS, Aug. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- NorthStar Anesthesia, one of the country's leading anesthesia care companies, announced today that it has acquired Anesthesia Staffing Consultants (ASC), a Detroit-based anesthesia management company with more than 30 locations across Michigan.

With this acquisition, NorthStar expands its footprint in the Midwest and increases its team of anesthesiologists and CRNAs to more than 1,600 providers caring for patients at nearly 150 facilities in 19 states.

"We're excited for ASC and NorthStar to join forces," said NorthStar CEO Chris Riopelle. "ASC shares our dedication to improving clinical operations while reducing cost and providing the highest quality of care for our patients. We have no doubt that together we will continue to improve anesthesia services for our surgeons, hospital and ambulatory surgery center partners. "

Paul Santoro, CEO and founder of ASC, added, "This is a great opportunity for both organizations. Our clients will benefit from the same local look, feel and customer service for which ASC is known, while enjoying the benefits of a larger organization. I have found that NorthStar's, commitment to quality and desire to grow are a perfect fit for our team. Both organizations have a wealth of experience, and I am thrilled about expanding our business together."

Riopelle stated, "NorthStar is continuing to build the greatest anesthesia care community in America. Working together with ASC is another step in that direction."
