Nova Scotia Deputy Premier Speaks Upon Arrival of Nova Scotia Christmas Tree to Boston
BOSTON, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Nova Scotia's Deputy Premier Frank Corbett invited Boston-area business and community leaders to learn more about Nova Scotia's competitive advantages at a luncheon held today, Nov. 20, at The Union Club in Boston. The meeting coincided with the arrival of Boston's official Christmas tree from Nova Scotia.
Following a short ceremony marking the tree's arrival on the Boston Common, Mr. Corbett highlighted the benefits of living, working, learning and doing business with Nova Scotia to a select group of Bostonians.
"The relationship between Nova Scotia and Boston is not new, but it is important that we continue to foster it, allowing it to grow in new directions," said Mr. Corbett. "We want the people of Boston to explore Nova Scotia's competitive advantages; our educated workforce; and world-class universities. When they are thinking about their next opportunity -- they'll think about Nova Scotia."
Guests at the event included members from various sectors in the business community; representatives from the City of Boston and Canada's Consul General to New England, Neil Le Blanc.
"The arrival of the tree is a wonderful annual reminder of the long-standing cultural, familial, historic, and trade ties that bind Nova Scotia and Massachusetts," said Mr. Le Blanc. "It gives me great pleasure to inform people about the strength of this mutually beneficial relationship, while working with businesses and organizations on both sides of the border to further expand it."
This year's tree was cut and shipped from Fox Point, Lunenburg Co., and Gary Zwicker, official town crier for the municipality, was on-hand to herald the tree's arrival.
