Oclaro and Huawei Collaborate on Petabit Photonic Cross Connect (PPXC) Technology Using Ultra-Fast Switching Lasers Oclaro Optimizes the Performance of its Tunable InP Lasers to Deliver the Ultra-fast Switching Capability Needed for Huawei's Future Optical Network
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCLR), a tier-one provider and innovator of optical communications and laser solutions, today announced that it has worked closely with Huawei to drive the development of Petabit Photonic Cross-Connect (PPXC) technology that can realize Petabit OTN switching in an all optical way with fine granularity. As part of their joint collaboration, Oclaro optimized its industry leading InP tunable laser technology to deliver prototypes of ultra-fast switching lasers that enabled Huawei to develop the PPXC system. Huawei will be showing a live demo of this PPXC system in a private suite at this week's OFC/NFOEC show in Los Angeles, California.
Agile and ultra-large capacity OTN switching is a promising technology for future optical networks. A key component of this is fast tunable laser technology, which Oclaro has successfully developed and optimized to meet Huawei's optical networking needs for the future.
