LAGRANGE, Ga., Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A one-of-a-kind place in the US, the Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange, Georgia offers visitors the chance to take a one-of-a-kind trip back to the days of the first Christmas. This extraordinary attraction offers visitors the chance to experience life in the days of the first century with an engaging series of events this holiday season. Only at the Explorations in Antiquity Center will a visitor travel the road to Bethlehem through a garden of life size archaeological replicas of places which existed during the time of the first Christmas.
Founded in 2006 by Dr. James Fleming, Ed D, the Explorations in Antiquity Center, an interactive biblical archaeological museum, offers many ways for visitors to immerse their senses in ancient times. It is a museum and educational facility with programs for all ages; its mission is: "to help people experience the ancient Biblical world, its history and culture."
During the Christmas season, visitors to the Center take a Follow the Shepherds Walk with a guide along a path from Nazareth to Bethlehem and beyond; they travel from a Village "Inn" to a permanent sheep fold in the field and to a manger. All of these places so familiar in the Christmas story come to life; travelers gain new insight into the words from Biblical text from these meticulously accurate replicas. Included with a walk this season, patrons also will enjoy Christmas Under A Bethlehem Star, a multi media show featuring scenes from the ancient Holy Land in an evening program narrated by Dr. Fleming and accompanied by familiar Christmas music in the new Roman Stepped Theatre, which is the latest addition to the Archaeological Garden.
Throughout the year, visitors to the Center capture a sense of life during the days of the first century by touring a garden of life-size archaeological replicas which depict the Life of the Shepherd, Life of the Farmer, and Life of the Village. Visitors also can enjoy an ancient feast or Biblical Meal, with a guide who leads a culinary excursion through fifteen menu items and the customs of dining in first century style. Travelers who have visited Israel describe the experience visiting the Center as giving one a "very authentic feeling" of time and place. Visiting the Explorations in Antiquity Center is as close to traveling to the Holy Land as most will ever experience.
