Online Social Platform Carbon38 Launches In Time For New Years Resolution
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- When women are thinking about how they are going to change their lives in 2013, they will look to Carbon38, a new website that aims to empower strong women to lead active lives. This, in time for New Year's resolutions, will launch Jan. 14, 2013, and will serve as an online platform for culture, community and commerce targeting fitness, wellness and health. Being referenced early as the Net-a-Porter.com of fitness, Carbon38 will offer women exclusive access to the best of fitness and health products and services, hand-picked by their favorite tastemakers, celebrities and fitness professionals. Essentially, founders Katie Warner Johnson and Caroline Gogolak , are taking a cross section of what beautiful healthy women really do to stay beautiful and healthy and then letting Carbon38 members shop it. What will be offered? Chic fitness apparel and accessories, cleanses, vitamins and fitness classes - everything a woman needs to stay healthy and fit.
Johnson and Gogolak, no strangers to the fitness and health communities, began their foray into fitness as ballerinas together at the Miami City Ballet and then continued to bump elbows at Harvard, where they pursued careers in finance. Then Gogolak trained with Johnson at Physique 57 in New York, at which Johnson has taught for more than five years. Now, 13 years into their friendship, the two fitness-minded entrepreneurs are launching Carbon38 to fill a void in a true women's fitness community online, one that appeals to affluent women of all ages that are career-minded, care about fashion, have social obligations and are generally on-the-go. Carbon38 will guide those users' purchases and feature editorial content with weekly sales events and featured tastemakers. Carbon38 is the result of efforts to give the fitness industry a makeover, said Johnson.
"I have always believed that buying a SoulCycle class is like buying a Chanel lipstick, said Johnson. "I might want to carry the $3,000 Chanel tote but at $32, I can carry something special with a much more attainable price tag. The same goes for the soul. For the price of a lipstick I can hop on a bike, torch calories and feel part of something elite. If Carbon38 can rebrand the gym into something aspirational, we might be able to get a lot more people perspiring."
The site has already soft launched with a couple high-end holiday-geared giveaways, the first, a Louis Vuitton tote, "the best gym bag ever" and the next to come on Jan. 1, 2013, a pair of Jimmy Choo sneakers, proving that high-fashion can be sporty. Bottom line; the Carbon38 girl desires designer apparel and values a high level of fitness, and she is a fitness (and fashion) trendsetter, like its founders Gogolak and Johnson.
