Online Training for Hospital Value Based Purchasing Now Available
HCCS Announces New Bundle of Training Courses for Quality Patient Care and Patient Experience
JERICHO, N.Y., July 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HCCS (Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc.), the leading provider of effective healthcare compliance training and tracking solutions, has announced an online training course bundle that enables hospitals to efficiently train staff and maximize payment incentives for the new CMS Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program. The bundle of five online multimedia courses educates staff to improve the patient experience and overall quality of care. VBP requires measured improvements in both areas to achieve incentive payments.

"Hospitals that fail to improve their VBP measured criteria may suffer significant financial penalties from reduced or eliminated incentives," says Ben Diamond, President of HCCS.
Starting in Fiscal Year 2013, the Value Based Purchasing program will provide payment incentives to hospitals to deliver higher quality at lower total cost. Hospitals that achieve the highest performance scores will receive the largest value-based incentive payments. Hospitals will be evaluated and scored on their improvement and how their performance compares to that same hospital's baseline period performance, for a set of specific quality conditions. The patient experience of care measure will be determined by the hospital's HCAHPS scores.
"Improving on the measured VBP criteria will require staff training in patient satisfaction, customer service, communication skills and the underlying best practices that insure quality medical care delivery and respect for patients and their rights," says Mr. Diamond. "We designed this training bundle to focus on the areas being measured by CMS."
The HCCS Value Based Purchasing bundle includes the following courses:
- The Anatomy of Care – An interactive movie focused on patient experience
- Documentation for Quality Care – Best practices for medical documentation and The Joint Commission documentation standards
- Reducing Medication Errors – Recommendations for reducing errors and the key elements of med-management policies and procedures
- Patient Rights – Patient rights related to advance directives, informed consent, privacy, and ethical delivery of healthcare
- Patient Safety – National patient safety training goals and initiatives, common medical errors, sentinel-event reporting, error-analysis and reporting
HCCS online compliance training courses are designed to change staff behavior utilizing adult learning principles. Courses include video scenarios and interactive exercises to engage learners and increase retention. The courses run on the HCCS SimPL Platform for Learning, the Healthcare Learning Platform (HLP) and other Learning Management Systems.
