Operation Homefront Distributes Over $1 Million in Donated DVDs at Fort Campbell, KY
SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thanks to a generous donation, Operation Homefront distributed more than 15,000 Disney DVDs to military families at an event in Fort Campbell, Ky. In addition, more than 17,000 DVDs were distributed directly to service members and their families in the area. The total value of the DVDs donated by Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) surpassed $1.1 million.
"Through the generosity of Kids in Distressed Situations and the companies that donate items to that organization, we were able to provide the children of military families some joy and comfort at home in the midst of potentially difficult times," said Jim Knotts, president and CEO of Operation Homefront. "We applaud K.I.D.S. for its continuing commitment to military children."
Kids in Distressed Situations provides children in need with new clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, books and juvenile products donated by leading manufacturers and retailers. Operation Homefront recognized the charity for its generosity in providing almost $5 million of in-kind donations to military children. These donations have benefited mostly children of the lowest-paid service members, ranks E1 - E6.
Volunteers worked through high temperatures to hand out the movies. "I also want to thank the Fort Campbell volunteers for enduring the sweltering heat while distributing the DVDs at a morale event held during the 101st Airborne Division's 'Week of the Eagles' at Fort Campbell," Knotts concluded.
