Orange County Based General Contractor Announces Three Years Free of Accidents

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Even in today's world where safety is a focus point for most contractors, it is a known fact that the construction industry continues to face challenges when it comes to on the job safety. However, one Orange County based construction company, LCS Constructors, Inc. (LCS), has met a milestone safety record that they hope to continue.

As general contractors of laboratory and technical facilities, LCS already works in some potentially hazardous working environments, including biotechnology and petrochemical facilities. Yet, in spite of construction industry hazards and the risks encountered in the industries they support, LCS celebrated a three year accident free performance record.

Unlike many other industries with controlled production environments, general contractors are continually faced with constantly changing work conditions and work distractions, making performing a job free of incident full of challenges. However with a strong commitment to safety, accident free job sites can be achieved. For general contractors, safety must be the single most important element of each day. It's something that takes the cooperation, dedication, and participation of each employee in order to create a team culture that supports the safety of all workers.

Today, construction remains a high risk industry; and as a whole, the construction industry is a tough one for safety. According to OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Act), despite overall improvements, annual accident statistics have shown that the construction industry remains one of most hazardous to workers; and, each year, construction workers lose their lives and more experience injuries or illnesses on the job.

"As general contractors we are proud to announce we have been accident free for the past three years – with zero reportable incidents in 2009, 2010 and 2011 – a remarkable feat for anyone working in this trade," said David Skinner, Executive Vice President for LCS.

LCS' safety record is no accident as they have been proactive and diligent with their safety programs. "Safety is a routine, something practiced on a daily basis that should be second nature to each of us. No matter how large or how small a project, each project has a set protocol that focuses on safety, team work, and quality," stated Skinner.

Keeping safety as a "top of mind" value is vital in this industry and LCS plans to continue to improve upon their existing safety program.
