ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- OTG Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: OTGS),
a leading provider of online data storage, data access and email management
solutions, today announced the general availability of enhancements to
EmailXtender(TM), its patent-pending email management solution for Microsoft
Exchange and Lotus Domino environments. These enhancements further strengthen
OTG's position in the messaging management market, while providing better
performance and stability for its customers.
EmailXtender automatically captures email messages and their attachments
from Exchange 5.5, and now Exchange 2000, freeing up message servers and
increasing server reliability and uptime. Since email servers and end-users'
local drives are freed of message saturation, as archived emails are routed to
alternate storage, and server performance is optimized, the total cost of
ownership is reduced.
The addition of Exchange 2000 support will also aid users in migrating to
the Exchange 2000 platform. Administrators can migrate the bulk of their
Exchange 5.5 message store to EmailXtender, minimizing the need to convert
large databases of aged messages and attachments, thereby maintaining
visibility to them during the conversion. EmailXtender seamlessly combines
aged Exchange 5.5 messages with new Exchange 2000 messages, enabling virtually
immediate access and continuity for end-users. Finally, EmailXtender allows
users to run and access messages and attachments in a mixed platform
"By understanding customers' needs, OTG continues to stand out with its
latest version of EmailXtender," said David Druker, Consulting Research
Analyst, at Ferris Research. "As more enterprises adopt Exchange 2000, they
are seeking better ways to manage their messaging system and make the
transition easier. EmailXtender and products like it can help."
"EmailXtender is the answer as enterprises search for powerful and
efficient management and storage solutions for the ever-growing volume of
email," said Peter Smails, Vice President of Product Management, OTG Software.
"The addition of Exchange 2000 support validates OTG's commitment to helping
businesses better manage their mission-critical information by enhancing its
solutions to meet customers' changing business needs."
