New service to begin on April 1, 2010

QUINCY, Wash., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 60 representatives of various food processors and produce shippers from the region attended a recent "Shippers Open House" at the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal (http://www.portofquincyintermodal.com) to learn about a new expedited intermodal rail service for Washington State produce and perishable shippers.

The "Shippers Open House" was hosted by Rail Logistics (http://www.icoldtrain.com) with support from Interstate Distributor Company, Columbia Colstor (http://www.colstor.com/colstorinternational2.htm) and the Port of Quincy (http://www.portofquincy.org). During the open house, representatives of Rail Logistics and BNSF Railway were on-hand to answer questions about the new service from Washington State to the Midwest.

Additionally, the shippers had a chance to view a new "Cold Train Intermodal" 53-foot temperature controlled container at the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal.

More importantly, the shippers learned about the new intermodal rail service which will begin on April 1, 2010 and provide Washington State produce and perishable shippers with a truck-comparable shipping alternative to the Midwest.

The new "PNW-Chicagoland Express Intermodal Service" will cover 2,000+ miles in four days. The service is expected to be faster and cheaper, providing shippers and the community with a 50% carbon footprint reduction compared to over-the-road trucks.

The Port of Quincy will be holding a formal Grand Opening event for the new Cold Train Intermodal Service on April 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal.
