PA Cyber Charter School Open House at Larger Harrisburg Office
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In response to enrollment growth, the state's largest cyber charter school is moving into a larger regional office in Harrisburg at the Tecport Business Campus.
An open house is planned for 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the new office, located at 479 Port View Drive, Building C, Harrisburg. Information about the school, its staff, curriculum and programs will be available along with light refreshments, musical entertainment and games and activities for children.
Included will be information for parents of young children interested in the new Little Lincoln online curriculum for kindergarten and first grade. Little Lincoln is part of the Lincoln Interactive curriculum designed and distributed by National Network of Digital Schools, and used by PA Cyber.
The online school will keep its original existing office half a block from the state capitol, but will move most staff and operations to the new location. The new office is in close proximity to Route 283 and the PA Turnpike, allowing easy access for PA Cyber families who attend on-site arts enrichment, tutoring and other hands-on programs.
The expansion will provide much larger spaces for on-site services for students and families, according to Dr. Nick Trombetta, CEO of PA Cyber and Jill Karwoski, Harrisburg Academy leader.
Karwoski, who opened the Harrisburg office two years ago, said 19 staff members there provide educational services to about 800 students in the region.
Based in Western Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (www.pacyber.org) has a statewide enrollment of nearly 9,000. The Harrisburg Support Center opened two years ago.
The open house is an opportunity for the public to tour, meet staff and learn how an online school works. New, current and prospective students and their families are invited to learn about activities and programs planned for the new school year.
Headquartered in western Pennsylvania, PA Cyber celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
