SAN FRANCISCO, April 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Parents Education Network (PEN) announced today that bestselling author, psychologist and learning disability advocate, Scott Barry Kaufman, will headline the 9th annual Education Revolution (EdRev) Conference on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at AT&T Park. EdRev is the nation's largest one-day celebration of individuals and parents of children with learning and attention differences, like ADHD, dyslexia and executive function.
Scott Barry Kaufman, a thought leader in the fields of human intelligence, giftedness and creativity, brings a deeply personal and professional perspective to this year's address. He was diagnosed with an auditory learning disability in early childhood. Since then, the psychologist has written numerous books, including Ungifted: Intelligence Redefined, in which he challenges conventional wisdom surrounding the childhood predictors of adult success and advocates for a new holistic approach. Kaufman's research has also been featured in Harvard Business Review, Psychology Today, The New York Times, and on MSNBC.
"I know firsthand that there is no one-size-fits all approach when it comes to learning. I look forward to inspiring EdRev attendees to find ways to help all kinds of minds shine," said Kaufman.
EdRev launched in 2009 in response to the lack of events focused on the strengths of students with learning and attention differences. This year's theme, A Day to Think a Little Differently, brings together families, schools and universities, and tech companies to discover and share the potential that can be unlocked from new learning styles and paths.
"With more than 2,000 attendees coming together to create a celebratory environment of information, music, and art, EdRev remains a one-of-a-kind experience for connection, inspiration, and support in the world of special education," said Melissa Fedoronko, executive director of PEN.
Registration for EdRev 2017 is now open. PEN member students and educators are invited to attend at no cost. Assistance is also available for low-income families. Visit EdRevSF.org for more information and tickets.
