Parisi Coffee Adds Nationally-Known Coffee Expert to Leadership Team
Pete Licata joins Parisi as the company's Quality Assurance Manager
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 2011 National Barista Champion and longtime coffee aficionado, Pete Licata, has returned to his hometown of Kansas City by way of Hawaii to work for Parisi Coffee as Quality Assurance Manager.
Licata, 34, has spent the last four years in Hawaii working in various aspects of coffee and later as an international coffee consultant. In his new position at Parisi, he will be responsible for Parisi's customer and employee coffee education programs as well as the tasting and testing of all Parisi Coffee products.
Licata is the 2011 US Barista Champion (USBC) and went on to win second place at the world barista competition in Bogota, Columbia where he competed against the top baristas from 54 countries. Licata began competing in 2005 and has won several top honors throughout the years, including regional champion in 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011 and just this month in Kansas City (2013). The standard competition consists of a 15-minute performance that features the preparation of four espressos, four cappuccinos and four original, signature drinks.
With a passion for teaching, Licata is a proponent for training baristas in the art of making great coffee. During his consultancy, he trained baristas from throughout the world who were looking to improve their knowledge in coffee preparation methods, learn advanced skills and understand the origins of coffee and the industry as a whole.
