Patriot Coal Promotes Elkins to Vice President

ST. LOUIS, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Patriot Coal Corporation (NYSE: PCX) today announced that C. Wayne Elkins has been promoted to Vice President – Materials Management.  In his new role, Elkins will report to Mark N. Schroeder , Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Mr. Elkins has more than 35 years of experience with the Company and has held various leadership positions in supply chain and materials management. 

Reporting to Elkins will be Jackie A. Douglas , Manager – Materials, Barry S. Harvey , Manager – Purchasing, Marilyn S. Perry , Senior Manager – Purchasing, Charles W. Stewart , Manager – Materials, and Kirby A. Totten , Senior Manager – Materials.  Elkins will be based in the Company's Charleston, West Virginia office.
