Gettysburg," said Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary of Tourism in the Department
of Community and Economic Development. "This weekend will highlight the
significant events that took place during the Confederate attack of
Pennsylvania in 1863 before and around the battle fought at Gettysburg,
including the burning of the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge that kept the
Confederate army at bay."

Dutch Country Roads region of the Commonwealth, will put into context the
geography, broad strategy and bring to life the personalities of the Civil War
as an experience making it accessible to every level of Civil War enthusiast.
The stories highlighted throughout the trails present the journey of the
soldiers, the women and children under siege, the lesser told tale of African
American contributions in the defense of the Commonwealth and the endurance of
people as they went about their daily lives.
