HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Education Secretary Gerald L. Zahorchak today announced the launch of a new, easier to use Department of Education Web site at www.education.state.pa.us.

"This dynamic new Web site will make it easier for Pennsylvanians and others to access the broad array of services and information the department has available," Zahorchak said. "Visitors to the site will be able to find what they need based on content type or based on their role in public education, as a student, parent, educator or taxpayer."

The department's Web site continues to be a central clearinghouse for thousands of education-related materials, including information on academic standards and curriculum, student performance data, school financial data, early childhood education resources, postsecondary and higher education resources, library services, property tax relief information and more.

The new site offers a more intuitive method of organizing information. In addition, site users will have the option to create a free account that will enable them to customize the site to readily access information and materials they frequently use.

"We have a broad audience that reflects the wide array of our department's many important responsibilities," the secretary said. "The new Web site is part of our ongoing commitment to engage and inform every Pennsylvanian as we work to build a world-class system of education that benefits everyone in the commonwealth."

It is the first major update to the department's Web site since 2001.
