Pennsylvania First Lady Susan Corbett Announces Free Summer Events at the Governor's Residence
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania First Lady Susan Corbett today invited the public to visit the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg for "Second Sundays," an annual series of free summer events.
Each second Sunday from June through September, visitors are invited to explore the Governor's Residence gardens from 1 to 4 p.m. Each event will highlight a specific theme and feature outdoor, family-friendly activities.
"The Governor and I are excited to kick off the 'Second Sunday' series again this summer," Mrs. Corbett said. "These events offer a unique opportunity for Pennsylvanians to enjoy a variety of educational programming and activities, while also learning about the history of the Governor's Residence."
Throughout the summer, visitors will have opportunities to enjoy performances by local arts organizations, observe live animal demonstrations, participate in artist-led canvas painting classes and more.
Through a partnership with the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Dauphin County, volunteer master gardeners will offer expertise on horticultural topics and answer questions from visitors.
Second Sunday events are free and reservations are not required. No large bags, purses or totes are permitted. Security measures will be in place.
