Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Announces Harrisburg Wine Festival as Part of Pennsylvania Wine Week
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) announced that 2015 Wine Week celebrations will conclude with the Harrisburg Wine Festival on Friday, May 8, at the State Museum of Pennsylvania. The event will feature more than 550 wines and 140 vintners.
"This is the first time that the wine festival will take place at the State Museum of Pennsylvania," said PLCB Chairman Tim Holden. "The museum will provide a unique backdrop of culture and history while attendees enjoy the extensive offerings the Harrisburg Wine Festival has to offer."
Formerly known as the Hershey Wine Festival, this premier event has been an integral part of Pennsylvania Wine Week since 2004, bringing the joy and passion of wine to Central Pennsylvania in a fun and informative way. The VIP Tasting is from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, and the Grand Tasting follows from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. To purchase tickets or view the list of wines that will be available for tasting, visit http://harrisburgwinefest.com/. Proceeds benefit the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. All admission tickets include event parking at the South Street Parking Garage, 220 South St., Harrisburg.
Limited tickets are also available for a special 1-hour interactive presentation led by the PLCB's Chairman's Selection® buyer, Steve Pollack. The presentation will feature a guided tasting of 10 very exclusive, hand-selected new Chairman's Selection wines before they're available on store shelves. For those guests who discover a Chairman's Selection wine they want to enjoy later, guests will have the opportunity to visit the onsite Fine Wine & Good Spirits store to purchase those products weeks before they reach other stores' shelves.
For the convenience of festival guests, the onsite store will also carry the featured wine from each table at the event. For more information on products served at the wine festivals, visit www.FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com.
"While there will be many wines available to sample, we encourage attendees to consume responsibly and designate a driver," Holden said. "A fun night should also be a safe night."
The 2015 Wine Week will include wine festivals in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday, May 6, and in Pittsburgh at Heinz Field on Thursday, May 7.
The PLCB regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol and also operates more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide. Taxes and store profits are returned to Pennsylvania's General Fund. For more information about the Liquor Control Board, visit www.lcb.state.pa.us.
