Pennsylvania State Workers' Insurance Fund to Consolidate Divisions
HARRISBURG, Pa., July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Department of Labor & Industry-operated State Workers' Insurance Fund (SWIF) announced today that it is consolidating the SWIF Claims Division and Field Operations Division into the Claims Services Division.
Employers will see no disruption in services.
"This reorganization enables a more streamlined operation of SWIF, benefitting the more than 24,000 employers served by eliminating redundancies and making administrative processes more efficient," said Elizabeth Crum , deputy secretary for compensation and insurance.
The consolidation will result in 24 staff furloughs across four offices. Furloughed workers are located in the Lackawanna, Erie, Dauphin and Northumberland county SWIF offices. Affected employees are aware of the consolidation and its effects.
"The state will work with displaced workers to expedite their return to the workforce," Crum added.
