Pensions & Investments (P&I) and the Alternative Investments Forum (AIF) Announce the Formation of the Institutional Investments Forum (IIF)
NEW YORK, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Pensions & Investments (P&I) and the Alternative Investments Forum (AIF) are pleased to announce their joint venture creating a global think tank that will educate and inform institutional investors about how best to invest their portfolios to meet their objectives. The new venture is called the Institutional Investments Forum (IIF).
IIF will draw upon the thought leadership platforms that both P&I and AIF have built over the many years with leading public and corporate pension plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, large family offices, and sovereign wealth funds.
P&I, through its high quality, executive-level conferences has been serving the needs of the professional investment community, providing education, thought leadership and networking over many years. Founded in 1973, P&I is the industry's leading source of independent, unbiased, trusted news, information, research and data.
AIF's activities have been supported by its members, which are an elite group of real estate, private equity, hedge fund, infrastructure, and other alternative investment fund managers. AIF's forums have brought together institutional investors, managers and consultants in controlled settings to enable them freely to share investment ideas and solutions.
The newly formed IIF will have an advisory board chaired by a Harvard Business School Professor and will include representatives from all of the key constituencies involved in the institutional investment decision-making process: leading academicians and economists, investment board members, senior investment staff and investment consultants.
IIF will be launched at the biennial Issues Conference of the National Association of State Treasurers on December 1, 2009 in New York City. Stephen A. Schwarzman, chairman of the world's largest alternative asset manager, Blackstone Group, will be the keynote speaker at a series of roundtable discussions with state treasurers, many of whom sit ex officio on their public pension plans' investment boards.
IIF's inaugural event will be held in New York City on January 12-14, 2010. Following the successful AIF format, it will start with a full-day series of intimate roundtable discussions among investment board members, staff, managers and consultants about portfolio-level concerns and the investment outlook for various alternative asset classes. The focus of the second full day will be on educating investment board members about current investment issues.
